Mabel B Little was a successful black business owner who owned a beauty salon called "Little Rose Beauty" in Tulsa, Oklahoma, during the early 1900s. After graduating from Madam CJ Walker's Hair, she opened her own business and quickly gained a reputation for providing high-quality hair and beauty services. Despite facing discrimination and segregation, Mabel persisted in building her business and became one of the most successful black entrepreneurs in the area.
In 1921, Mabel's business was destroyed during the Tulsa Race Massacre, which targeted black businesses and residents in the city's Greenwood District, also known as Black Wall Street. Despite the destruction, Mabel was determined to rebuild her salon and continue serving her community. She relied on her resilience, hard work, and support from other black business owners to rebuild her business and continue thriving in the face of adversity.
Mabel B Little's journey and resilience in the face of discrimination and violence inspired the design of the t-shirt we created. The t-shirt honors her legacy and celebrates her journey as a black business owner who refused to give up in the face of adversity. By wearing the t-shirt, people can show their support for black entrepreneurship and honor the legacy of trailblazers like Mabel B Little.
